Kids really do make holidays so much fun. Ella had asked Santa for a REAL white kitty. We were a little worried that she'd be majorly disappointed when she woke up and found a pretend kitty instead. She never batted an eye and treats it like her real pet.
Ruby asked Santa for a pony in a treehouse with a monster in a cage. Gotta love that girl! Santa pretty much delivered with a pony in a remote controlled airplane and a Gremlin. She was beyond thrilled!!!!
Annie was pretty out of it and a little overwhelmed, but after a little while, she started playing with all the toys (and wrapping paper).
And lest you think we are the kind of people who keep lawn furniture inside our house, let me explain the blue Adirondack chairs. Santa came up with a great present for Richard (it doesn't happen all that often...he's hard to shop for). He got those two chairs, along with a fire pit and those giant campfire marshmallows.
After opening all the presents, we had a smorgasbord of delicious food while we checked out our new stuff. Ella and Ruby both got makeup kits, so we had a little makeover party. I had no idea that blue eyeshadow smeared all over my cheek could be so stylish! We just lounged around for the rest of the day and Skyped with the family. I really love having our own little Christmas at home, although we do miss celebrating with our families.
Richard was on duty the next day, so he had to go into work all day. And, better late than never, we got a white (day after) Christmas! It snowed a ton! Ella and Ruby had fun for a little while making snow angels and Annie had fun eating the snow. I was kind of bored that day, so I ended up taking down all of the Christmas decorations. It was a little sad to have it all gone, but a relief to know that it was done.
And after that, we drove off into the sunset, headed to Disney World for New Year's!!!!
